Event Committee:

Patricia Herrera Torres, Independent Consultant - Chair, SPDM Mid-year conference 2023

Patricia is an experienced and versatile subsurface data management consultant with more than 30 years of experience, including leading small/medium teams and IM/IT-related projects. During her years in Shell, Patricia led a team of technical data & workflow managers in Exploration, Field Development and Production, and in her role as Global Learning Advisor she led the development of the curriculum and the content for the Technical Data Management (TDM) Discipline. Currently she enjoys consulting to oil and gas companies, her most recent assignment serving as Product Manager for Data in the Shell OSDU Program.  In her spare time Patricia (known as Patty) enjoys teaching Biblical studies and trying new foods from around the world.

Alan Smith

With more than 30 years industry experience, Alan is a recognised expert in the field of Information Systems strategy, spending the last 20 years focused on this area.  He developed and led the Information Systems practice of Paras Ltd.  Since then he has worked in interim management roles, including CIO, for a number of clients. Alan has worked with regulators and national data management systems to develop systems which meet the needs of the regulatory environment.  He has also worked with clients to establish the use of industry standards and naming conventions to improve reliability of data exchange. Alan is a mentor through SPDM and other routes, and in his spare time enjoys volunteering, and exploring the canals of the UK.

Ebuka Umeh

Ebuka possess more than 11+ years’ experience that cuts across the energy industry, majorly in the oil and gas sector. He currently sits as an advisory board member (Data Analysis and Project Management) at Pan Allen Energy. Due to his cross-functional responsibilities, he has been able to deliver many projects through data management and data driven decisions. He currently works for Effiage Smulders, having spent some years in BW Offshore and NLNG Limited on different energy projects.

 He is currently a facilitator/reviewer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers International (SPEI) on themes that cuts across data management and project economics. His passion for effective management/analysis of data had helped him served as a community lead for Google, where he still delivers some level of tutelage for the younger leads as a mentor. He is a certified project manager from Project Management Institute and possess a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering and three master’s degree that cuts across engineering, economics and management.
