Why join the Society?

The Society offers a range of benefits to its members, including access to SPDM events. At only €40 per year, and free of charge to students (see below), a membership subscription is highly recommended.

Conferences & Events: The Society offers a member-driven driven programme of thought-provoking workshops and events. Members gain free live virtual access and discounted delegate rates for in-person events.

Resources: Selected recordings of presentations are made available on a member only basis. After an initial period of exclusive access these may become publicly available. We continue to work on new resources to support our members - so tell us what would help you!

Mentoring: The mentoring scheme is designed to enable the development of both the mentor and the mentee. All members can make a mentoring request; as a mentor, mentee or even both.

Other benefits of joining the Society include:

Influence: Volunteer for event organising committees and even a board position and help shape the future.

Community and Networking: Join a vibrant community of energy sector data managers and enjoy professional networking and interaction with fellow practitioners, sharing knowledge, ideas and experience.

Professional Recognition: Membership is a recognition of commitment to the society code of conduct and a reflection of individual professionalism.

Special Interest Groups: Set up, and participate in member-only groups for discussion and knowledge sharing, or delivery of a task such as new standards. Groups will be member-led, and will also inform wider SPDM activities and events.

Personal and Professional Interest

SPDM membership is of value to people who are interested in how organisations acquire, store, and use data in efficient and innovative ways while complying with legal and regulatory requirements. Membership is open to individuals only, at any employment status. Corporate membership by companies or business entities is not offered.

There are increasing opportunities for education in data management, and we encourage participation from students studying for a professional qualification in data management or in other subjects that include data-related components.
